Jasper, Arkansas Library Workshop

DSCI0415

One of the high points of working with medicinal/edible plants is hanging out with fellow plant lovers. Last night’s workshop, “Uncommon Uses of Common Plants” was pure fun, folks chimed into the conversation and left with heightened curiosity to explore their yards and beyond.

I hope to have the opportunity to get to know each of them and expect that most will show up at future workshops which are described at our other blog, www.ozarkherbs.blogspot.com … anyone coming here looking for workshop info should visit the above link.

One very special treat was meeting SunHawk of Arco Iris, a fellow herbalist/medicine woman who has lived in the wilderness much as I have. We’ve heard of each other for a decade and always tried to figure out how to get together. So when she introduced herself last night I about fell over. It pays to get out into civilization now and then! You can find out more about her work at www.arcoirisinc.org .

Since there was a request to get a copy of the PowerPoint presentation, I’ve decided to upload it…as soon as I figure out how.

A special thanks to library staff member, Jennifer, for her diligence in putting this event together and the beautiful work she did turning a long newspaper article into a handout, the refreshments, the publicity…she’s an angel. The library deserves a lot of credit, too, for its zest in providing the community with interesting events. Shows what a small town library can do.
